TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN RHP RYAN CAPUANO
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Right-Handed Pitcher Ryan Capuano for the upcoming 2026 season.
Capuano, a 25-year-old native of Scarborough, Ontario, joins the Maple Leafs after spending five seasons with the Thundering Herd of Marshall University from 2019-2023. A graduate of Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute, Capuano spent time with the Toronto Mets before heading south of the border to MU.
In 2019, he appeared in fifteen games with the Thundering Herd - eleven of which were starts - while going 1-3 in his freshman season. Following a covid-shortened 2020 season, Capuano tossed a combined 113.1 innings over his final three seasons while striking out 111, notching seven saves, and appearing in 50 games. He opened his 2023 season by posting eight-consecutive scoreless outings, ending his final season at Marshall University with a 3.40 ERA, five saves, and an 8.1 K/9.
The six-foot-one, 210-pound righty graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and will turn 26 in February.
