OUTFIELDER DENNIS DEI BANING JOINS MAPLE LEAFS
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have acquired Outfielder Dennis Dei Baning from the Hamilton Cardinals via trade.
Dei Baning, a Toronto native, joins the Maple Leafs after having spent three seasons with the Hamilton Cardinals and one with the Welland Jackfish. The Humber College graduate was a two-time OCAA Champion with the Hawks, as well as being named a two-time OCAA All-Star and 2021 OCAA Player of the Year. In 2024, Dei Baning was named to his first IBL All-Star squad in his fourth season.
“Someone with Dennis’ skillset is too good to pass up on, he’s an all-around player that can beat you in a variety of ways. We’ve seen the damage he can do when he’s played against us, and we’re very excited to see him take the field in a Leafs’ jersey for the first time. Dennis and the future consideration will boost the team as we look to make significant strides this offseason,” said the club.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
