MAPLE LEAFS SIGN JEREMY NEWTON

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Right-Handed Pitcher Jeremy Newton for the upcoming 2025 season.

Newton, a Toronto native, spent time in the Milwaukee Brewers’ organization in 2016, after pitching with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, Kelowna Falcons, and Okotoks Dawgs. A graduate of the Toronto Mets program, he has also spent time coaching at UBC and will make his IBL debut in 2025. The veteran right-hander is the fifth member of Toronto’s staff with professional experience.

“Jeremy’s been around the game for so long, he’s an ultra-smart pitcher and is mechanically sound in every aspect. He’s another arm who’s had professional experience, he’s coached, he’s been through multiple levels of ball in Canada - he’s a lifer. He has a presence on the mound, doesn’t let the moment get too big, and has all the makings of a great pitcher in this league. The culture that we want our staff to have, Jeremy embodies every aspect of it,” said the club.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
