Panthers push Leafs to the brink
TORONTO – Three Kitchener players homered as the Panthers pushed the Toronto Maple Leafs to the brink of elimination with a 9-3 win Wednesday night at Christie Pits.
Kitchener leads the best-of-seven series 3-0.
Mike Gordner hit a three-run blast, while Brian Burton and Keegan Marsden each added a solo home run. All three players scored twice.
Mike Glinka and Tanner Nivins both had two hits, an RBI and a run.
Christian Hauck (2-0) went six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
Marcus Reeves and Justin Marra each hit solo home runs for the Leafs. Connor Lewis went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Zach Sloan (1-3) took the loss, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out five.
