TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS ACQUIRE INF BRANDO LEROUX FROM GUELPH

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have acquired INF Brando Leroux and Cash Considerations from the Guelph Royals in exchange for LHP Dustin Richardson and C/OF Luca Boscarino.

Leroux, a native of Markham, Ontario, has been with Guelph since 2022, appearing in 111 games with the Royals over a combined four seasons. The speedy infielder slashed .291/.360/.367 during that stretch, with 22 doubles and 47 RBI. Currently a member of the Florida Atlantic University Owls (NCAA), Leroux is in his third season with the club after debuting in 2024. The 22-year-old has hit .277 over 132 Division-1 games, posting 8 HR, 75 RBI, and 20 SB over that span.

In 2024, Leroux started all 57 games for the Owls at shortstop - one of only two players that year to start every game. He recorded thirteen multi-hit games, six of which were three-hit performances. A year later, he was named to the All-AAC Second Team and added to the watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award (best shortstop). He led the Owls with a .319 average, starting all but one game at shortstop in 2025. Four of his five home runs were in the seventh inning or later, including go-ahead blasts over ECU and Rice. Thus far in 2026, Leroux has recorded six multi-hit games.

Leroux is an alumni of the Toronto Mets organization and has spent time with the Team Canada Jr. program.

The Toronto Maple Leafs organization thanks both Dustin Richardson and Luca Boscarino for their contributions and wish them the best in Guelph.
