TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS RE-SIGN LHP WILGENIS ALVARADO
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have re-signed Left-Handed Pitcher Wilgenis Alvarado for the upcoming 2026 season.
Alvarado, who debuted with the Maple Leafs in 2023, will enter his fourth season with Toronto in 2026. A former Toronto Blue Jays farmhand, he has amassed a combined 206 ⅔ innings - regular and postseason combined - across 49 appearances (32 starts) while striking out 197 since joining the club, including being named to the All-CBL Second Team in 2023 and taking home the Ted Earley Memorial Award for best ERA (2.36) that same year.
In 2025, Alvarado made ten starts (15 appearances) that included six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven against Barrie in the playoffs. In his final five appearances of the regular season prior, he allowed just six earned runs over 19 ⅔ innings while striking out 23 - picking up wins in three of his four starts during that time.
Alvarado joins a revamped Maple Leafs’ pitching staff in 2026 and is the seventh import signing by the club this offseason.
