TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS RE-SIGN RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER ALEX LANIGAN
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have re-signed Right-Handed Pitcher Alex Lanigan for the upcoming 2026 season.
Lanigan, who worked as Toronto’s player advisor in 2025 while recovering from injury, returns to the field this summer with the Maple Leafs. The 23-year-old spent parts of two seasons with the Hamilton Cardinals in 2023 and 2024 prior to joining Toronto, posting a sparkling 2.60 ERA over 36 innings with the Cards’ in his rookie year while going 4-0 and picking up one save.
A native of Sainte-Agathe-Des-Monts, Quebec, he was fantastic with the University of Calgary Dinos (CCBC) in 2023. A 4-0 record over 14 appearances with five saves, Lanigan pitched to a 2.84 ERA while striking out 11 over 12 ⅔ innings. Over three playoff games that year, he allowed one run over 5 ⅓ innings while picking up two saves - one of which came in the Canadian College World Series deciding game, where the University of Calgary would win their first title in program history.
Now recovered, Lanigan joins the Toronto Maple Leafs’ pitching staff for the upcoming 2026 season.
