TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN INFIELDER CRIX TAVERAS

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Infielder Crix Taveras for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Taveras, a native of Long Beach, California, joins Toronto after graduating from Point Park University in 2025, the same baseball program that current Maple Leafs’ players Matt Brandt and Camden Dimidjian also spent time at.

The switch-hitting infielder just wrapped up his third season with the aforementioned Pioneers, having slashed a combined .320/.427/.516 with 17 HR and 106 RBI over 143 games from 2024-2026. In 2025, a season that saw Taveras hit a whopping .352, he was selected to the NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Second Team.

Before attending Point Park, Taveras spent time with Compton College from 2021-2023 and appeared in 75 games with the Coyotes. Over that span, he slashed .374/.466/.601 with 11 HR and 63 RBI with just 47 strikeouts in 286 at-bats. During that stretch, he also appeared with the Academy Barons of the California Collegiate League, a member of the MLB Youth Academy.

Taveras is an import and looks to make an immediate impact in the lineup.
