TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN INFIELDER KIRK GIBSON
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Infielder Kirk Gibson for the upcoming 2026 season.
Gibson, a native of Owen Sound, arrives to the Maple Leafs after spending two seasons at Owens Community College (2022-2024) and two seasons with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (2024-2025). With the Owens Express, he slashed .325/.417/.408 across 55 games with 47 RBI and 25 walks. More recently with the Varsity Blues, Gibson won back-to-back OUA Championships alongside Spenser Ross amidst U of T’s dominant three-in-three-years run in Ontario.
An Ontario Titans alumni, Gibson hit .350 with 2 HR and 12 RBI over 12 games with the Varsity Blues in 2025 - tied for the team lead in homers and runs batted in. Selected as a two-time Academic All-American 1st Teamer, the 22-year-old joins a youthful Maple Leafs squad reinvigorated with young talent and will make his CBL debut in 2026.
