TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN INFIELDER MATT FABIAN
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Infielder Matt Fabian for the upcoming 2026 season.
Fabian, a Toronto native, joins the Maple Leafs after spending two seasons with the Brantford Red Sox in 2023 & 2024. He took home Rookie of the Year honours after a stellar first season with the bat, slashing .406/.494/.481 - good for a 0.975 OPS - with 1 HR and 15 RBI. Fabian was also selected to the 1st Team All-CBL (then-IBL) and went 3-for-8 in two playoff games for the Red Sox that year. He then returned in 2024, appearing in 17 games with Brantford.
Most recently in 2025, Fabian played with the Northern Colorado Owlz in the Pioneer League (PION) - an MLB-affiliated independent league. There, he hit .280 with 2 HR and 28 RBI over 68 games while walking 31 times. Prior, Fabian spent four seasons with Ithaca of the Liberty League (NCAA) and a very brief appearance with Ferrum (NCAA). Across those five seasons, he slashed a combined .301/.433/.420 with 5 HR and 70 RBI over 111 collegiate games.
Fabian also made stops with the Newark Pilots (2022), Charlotte Mustangs (2021), and Lake Norman Copperheads (2020) - all collegiate summer league teams. The 25-year-old has seen time across the infield and outfield, and provides defensive flexibility throughout the diamond. He is Toronto’s 12th signing this offseason.
