TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN OUTFIELDER JACOB BONZON
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Outfielder Jacob Bonzon for the upcoming 2026 season.
Bonzon, an alumni of the Toronto Mets, joins the Maple Leafs after spending four seasons with the Roanoke Maroons (NCAA) and one year with the Ajax Spartans (GTBL). He appeared in 101 games with Roanoke from 2020-2023, including his senior year where he slashed .351/.463/.466 with 1 HR, 25 RBI, and 21 SB while posting a strikeout rate of just 10%.
Over the span of a week, Bonzon was named to both the 2023 All-ODAC First Team and Academic All-District Team. He ranked 5th in the league in steals, helping lead the Maroons to a 28-17 overall record that year. Over his final eighteen games, Bonzon recorded hits in seventeen of them - eight of which were multi-hit performances.
In 2025 with the Ajax Spartans, he hit .356 (26-73) across eighteen games while notching five doubles. Bonzon is the second Maple Leafs signing that has a background with the Toronto Mets, alongside Right-Handed Pitcher Ryan Capuano.
