TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN RHP REINALDO DE PAULA

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Right-Handed Pitcher Reinaldo De Paula for the upcoming 2026 season.

The now-27-year-old De Paula comes to Toronto with a wealth of professional baseball experience, having pitched over parts of eight years (2017-2023) within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. An international free agent signee, he made it as high as AA-Tulsa in 2023 while appearing in 6 games with the Drillers.

De Paula amassed a combined 20-6 record with a 4.27 ERA across 181 ⅓ innings (140 appearances). With a notably high K/9 rate of 10.7 and an impressively low HR/9 rate of 0.3, he struck out 215 while allowing just six home runs during his time in the MiLB. In 2022, De Paula was named Pitcher of the Month with Rancho Cucamonga (Low-A).

In 2024, De Paula pitched with the New Jersey Jackals of the Frontier League (FRON) and made seven starts with the club after having only ever been used in relief up until that point.

De Paula is Toronto’s second import signing, leaving six remaining slots open.
