Towers signs in Toronto

TORONTO, Ontario – The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@MapleLeafsBaseball) announced today signing of infielder Charlie Towers (Toronto, On)

Towers spent the 2022 season with the Hamilton Cardinals where he hit .218 (17-78) with 10 RBI’s in 24 games. Towers spent 2 summers playing with Fort McMurray of the Western Canadian Baseball League before coming to the IBL. Towers went to school at U of Fraser Valley before transferring to Humber College this past fall.

“Charlie gives us depth in the middle infield, with an ability to play both 2B and SS. He has some IBL experience and is a scrappy player. It’s always nice to bring back Toronto born kids who have gone to play in other IBL cities.” GM Jeff Lounsbury

“ I am very excited to play for the team I watched as a kid! It is an honour to be part of such a historic team like the Leafs” said Towers

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
