TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS SIGN RHP YADIAN MARTINEZ

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have signed Right-Handed Pitcher Yadian Martinez for the upcoming 2026 season.

Martinez, who spent the last three seasons with the Kitchener Panthers, has an extensive track record throughout professional baseball in Cuba. The now-30-year-old made his debut in the Cuban National Series (CNS) back in 2015, and has since spent time with Mayabeque, Las Tunas, Camaguey, and Portuarios prior to joining the CBL. In October of 2025, Martinez tossed a no-hitter with the aforementioned Mayabeque Hurricanes, walking one and striking out five.

Across 38 appearances with the Panthers from 2023-2025, the veteran righty tossed a combined 190 ⅓ innings - regular and postseason combined - while striking out 213. In 2024, Martinez finished the season second in strikeouts with 91 (over 72 ⅔ innings) - a year that saw him go 6+ innings eight times.

Martinez is the organization’s sixth import signing this offseason, joining Yordan Manduley as former Kitchener teammates that will make their Maple Leafs debut this summer.
